Tips for Searching Ads

Basic Quick Search:

To do a basic quick search use the main search field and type in one or more descriptive words and press your "Enter" key or click the "Go" button for a list of relevant results.

By default, the search only returns ads that include all of your search terms.

Examples:

  • If you type in the term Quarter, you will bring up all ads that include the word Quarter, which could be ads that are in regards to a "Quarter Horse", "Quarter Horse Event" or even something such as a "Quarter Section" of real estate.

  • If you type in the term Quarter Horse, you will only bring up ads that include both words. It will not include ads that have only the word "Horse" or only the word "Quarter" somewhere in the ad.
Be sure to check your spelling! Avoid unnecessary punctuation, and make sure there are spaces between words. If searching using a single word yields too many unrelated ads, try adding another word or two. For example if your only interested in a Quarter Horse Gelding, type in all 3 words and the search results will only include ads that contain all 3 words.

Advanced Search:

The advanced search allows you to do more complex searches (recommended only for those more familiar with doing advanced searches).

Once you type a search word or term into one or more of the available fields, and choose the "AND" selection, this works the same as doing a basic search from the main search field whereas it returns ads that include all of your search words or terms. Using the "OR" selection returns matches where either of the words or terms that you entered are found in ads.

You can also further narrow your advanced search to the type of ad, date added, and category.

Additional Search Tips:

When you're viewing an ad, the poster's "Name" as well as the "City", "State" and "Country", are hyperlinks.

  • Clicking the poster's "Name" link, this will do a search of all ads posted by this user.

  • Clicking the "City" link, this will do a search of all ads listed in this city.

  • Clicking the "State" link, this will do a search of all ads listed in this state.

  • Clicking the "Country" link, this will do a search of all ads listed in this country.

Note: Location hyperlinks are only available for listings within North America.

Sorting Search Results:

Once your search results come up, you can further sort them by "Name", "Date Added", "Expire Date" or by "Ad Type", using the red and blue arrows will sort them in an ascending or descending order.
